About the Journal
Focus and Scope:
The PODIUM journal is registered in the National Register of Serials with No. 2148 and ISSN 1976-2472; It is a component of the Centre for the Study of Sport and Physical Activity (CEDAF) and attached to the Faculty of Physical Culture "Nancy Uranga Romagoza" at the University of Pinar del Rio "Hermanos Saiz Montes de Oca".
PODIUM has as its primary object to disclose the results of researchers of Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport, and in turn help deepen the various dimensions of knowledge; wishing that those who go to find this publication informative scientific soundness and accessibility by allowing an entertaining exchange between the scientific community in Cuba and the world.
PODIUM's mission is to promote the dissemination and exchange of research experiences, based on the publication of articles of proven quality that provide significant news and contribute to innovation in the field of Physical Education, Sports, Recreation, and Physical Culture in general, as well as applied sciences, in Pinar del Río, Cuba and the world.
PODIUM has the vision of achieving visibility and informative coverage in the dissemination of scientific results, which allow the projection as a reference journal in the field of applied sciences, Physical Education, Sports, Recreation and Physical Culture in general.

LEADING ARTICLES
It may be of scientific content or opinion, drafted by the principal or other professional at the request of the Editorial Board of the magazine. This will be briefly and current and interesting issues will be presented. should not exceed 2 pages and can contain up to 5 references.

ORIGINAL ARTICLES
The original manuscript must be written in Microsoft Word language, Verdana font 10 with 1.5 line spacing spaces throughout the manuscript, with margins 2.5 cm, no indentation, tabs or any other design attribute. should not exceed 28 to 30 lines per sheet, for a maximum of 20 and a minimum of 10 pages per job.
An original article should have the following structure in its content:
- Title: Contains the subject of research and reflects the main solution to the problem investigated with no more than 15 words. It is recommended not to nor where or when of the investigation. And you must have a version in English.
- Abstract: It comes in a single text block whose content has to be structured (Introduction-Materials and Methods-Results-Discussion). It provides an extract in Spanish and English for each of the main sections of the article in no more than 250 words. It should be written in the past tense, impersonal tone without abbreviations, references to the main text, notes, footnotes or references. This section must contain in summary form the basis of the study, its purpose or objective and scope of the investigation; mention the materials and methods used to achieve the goal; Commenting on the results of greater impact, and continued to state the conclusions of greater significance and importance. must not contain any information not in the article body.
- Keywords: List from 3 and 8 words alphabetically ordered that represent the results of the investigation. This section is essential for proper indexing and retrieval of the article.
- Introduction: It must be written in the present tense, with a descriptive and narrative style because it addresses the problem that exists, and admitted to knowledge and published on the subject so far to initiate the investigation. Includes theoretical and rationale of the study describing the what and why of research. The problematic situation (specific reality of interest) should be presented in a pragmatic way for readers interested in the solution, and should be exposed the literature review so that the reader understands what the loophole in the state of knowledge and possible research gaps. This section should conclude arriving to the main purpose or objective of the research, also highlighting the importance and scope of the solution.
- Materials and Methods: Most of this section should be written last with a descriptive style that allows inform the main criteria for selecting the methods to be used in correspondence with the purpose of research, time and scenarios to study well and discuss the main limitations of the research. This section states the unit of analysis of the study, the different techniques and methods to be used for collection, processing and analysis of data; enunciating the scientific research methodology used in the research. Here also it states in investigations that require the use of acronyms, measurement systems, etc. This section is critical because the cornerstone of the scientific method requires that the results obtained, to have scientific value, they are reproducible; and so that the results are considered reproducible, it is necessary to provide the basis for others to repeat the research and get the results. Ethics Observation is required impartiality and anonymity in some studies, when describing surveys, diagnosis, experiments on humans, etc. indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the editorial board of the institution that oversees investigations.
- Results: Exposure of the results must be written in the past tense with descriptive and narrative style but with a very clear writing, without excessive use of verbs and preferably this section should be brief. Here never informed experimental details are repeated in the section of materials and methods, if necessary reference only as specified in this section is made. This section should focus on those results that provide solutions to the problem because they respond to the research question and research objectives. The exhibition should focus on the findings, their significance, implications, limitations, etc. Here representative and not repetitive data are available, you must demonstrate discernment and discrimination unrepresentative when results provide new data. They can be used to better illustrate large volumes of data up to a total of 8 tables, tables, figures, maps or self-explanatory, but you should never to repeat these data plotted in the text. It requires that these illustrations have consecutive number, and in the case of tables its title and source of information at the top is annotates, while the rest of the figures acotaran at the bottom. Remember that the source of information should be referenced as the bibliographical journal style. These images must be in JPG format and have good resolution.
- Discussion: verbose language should be avoided, the style should be simple and precise with wording of argumentative type, here the results are interpreted and presented not return to recapitulate, you should make judicious use of the controversy and constructive debate. Its purpose is to show the relationships between the observed facts. So first, the information connotes research, or those interpretations sufficient importance and significance that differentiate it from other research is offered; and then, with the results available in the literature (second literature review) to define whether they agree (or not) with what exists in the state of art are contrasted. If applicable, also expose the theoretical implications of their work and its possible practical applications. The discussion should end with a brief summary of the findings on the scope, limitations and significance of the research.
- References: They must comply with international bibliographic APA style. Include only the works cited in the text, and also encompass percent (over 50%) update in the last 5 years required in the literature review of the state of the art. References to unpublished data as events without ISSN papers, abstracts, dissertations, theses, reports, etc. should be limited and Latin locutions are accepted.
- Acknowledgements (optional): Its purpose is courtesy and gratitude and are not always necessary. It should acknowledge the external financial technical assistance (person, institution, organization, etc.) and (grants, contracts, projects, grants, etc.); and collaborations that should be acknowledged but do not justify authorship.

REVIEW ARTICLES
Review articles will provided general information, welcoming texts on terminology of science and technology and scope of the Department of Physical Culture and Research, containing in which the author makes a critical assessment of published in a specific field of sports science conducted in a variable period of time work. It includes call for scientific events and other important information.
The parts of it will be INTRODUCTION, DEVELOPMENT AND CONCLUSIONS. Review articles will contain 25 references minimum and 40 maximum. The review article, although sometimes may contain new data, is intended to examine the previously published literature and place it in some perspective, offering a critical evaluation of the subject matter and should arrive at important conclusions based on the studies analyzed.

ATHLETIC LETTER
It will collect comments evaluating theme books Physical Culture and Sports, they are published and enrich the general culture of the professionals of Physical Culture. It will include works on expressions of general culture that relate to the sport, including history of events and outstanding personalities linked to the Physical Culture and Sport, especially in the province of Pinar del Rio.

Peer Review Process
PODIUM It is a refereed journal that selects the articles to be published through the process of external review by expert peers, so that the reviewers and authors are committed to open science.
Once the editorial team of the magazine has established that the item meets the standards for style and content indicated in the guidelines for authors, the manuscript will be sent to two experts anonymous within the field of study of the article, they submit their reports to the editorial board following the protocol of the magazine, if there is discrepancy will be sent to a third evaluator.
According to these reports, the main author will communicate the outcome of the review (rejected, accepted or accepted with modifications) as well as the observations and comments of the reviewers. If the manuscript has been accepted with modifications, authors must resubmit a new version of the article, which will be resubmitted for review by the same reviewers. If you wish, authors can also submit a letter to the editor, which will indicate the content of the amendments of the article. If the authors have decided not to follow the recommendations of the reviewers, they may justify its decision in that letter.
In all cases, this review process protects both the authors and experts who review manuscripts, keeping special care with established ethical standards and avoiding conflicts of interest.
The editor of the magazine will keep the authors of the works received and their subsequent acceptance or not to continue in the process, and will know the moment are in it, reserving the right to refuse items not deemed appropriate for publication.
The essential criteria are valued for the publication of an article are:
- Correspondence with the profile of interest of the publication and its readers.
- Originality, timeliness, novelty or validity of the proposed study.
- Importance for research or practice in the treated field.

Publication Frequency
The PODIUM journal will be published every four months in the periods January-April, May-August and September-December. As of volume 15, articles that have completed the editing process will be viewed from the first month of the period. Its publication language is Spanish, and the title and summary of each article are presented in English. Since volume 14, the articles have also been published in English from the translation from Spanish. From volume 15 the title and summary of each article are presented in Portuguese.

Open Access Policy
It is an open access publication and its principle is to publish research free of charge to the entire educational community, fostering a greater exchange of global scientific knowledge. This means that all its contents can be freely accessed at no cost to the user or his/her institution. Users can read, download, copy, distribute, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of Podium articles because everything is published under Creative Commons License Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International.
This journal does not charge for executing the editorial process to the received manuscripts (No APC). The source of financing is the University of Pinar del Río "Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca".
This participates in initiatives for open access to scientific information prompted by the Declaration of Budapest (Budapest Open Access Initiative, 2002) and Berlin declaration (Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities, 2003) Open access paradigm ascribing defined in international declarations such as "free access via the Internet to scientific literature, respecting existing copyright laws."
Archiving
The Podium journal assumes as a policy that immediately publish each issue, the articles are hosted in the institutional repository of the University of Pinar del Río "Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca" accessible at: http://rc.upr.edu.cu/
This journal uses the LOCKSS system, being included in the Public Knowledge Project Private LOCKSS Network (PKP PLN), creating a file system distributed among collaborating libraries, which allows to create permanent files of the magazine for the purpose of conservation and restoration.

Ethical statement and good practices
PODIUM 's editorial team is committed to the scientific community in guaranteeing the ethics and quality of the articles published, based on the code of conduct and good practices that the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) defines for editors. of scientific journals.
The journal follows a rigorous control procedure received originals to avoid bad scientific practices. It guides its users in terms of maintaining correct ethics in the publication.
To this end, the international standards set followed by COPE, endorsing the standards established publishers in 2nd World Conference on Research Integrity in Singapore in 2010.

In this regard, the editorial board of the magazine follows the flow of decision recommended by the Best Practice Guidelines on Wiley Publishing Ethics manual.
And assessment tools to detect bad practices in order to ensure compliance with the quality standards of publication, and keep the original and unprecedented nature of the published results are used. The magazine uses in its process of peer review different analysis systems and anti original plagiarism in order to detect malpractices.
