Health-oriented fitness of type 2 diabetic patients with distal peripheral diabetic neuropathy
Main Article Content
Abstract
The physical culture professional contributes important contributions to the programs, applies rehabilitation using physical exercise to different diseases and contributes to their quality of life. The objective of this work was to develop a methodology to improve health-oriented physical condition in type 2 diabetic patients complicated with Distal Peripheral Diabetic Neuropathy (DPND). To this end, a quasi-experimental design study was carried out with pretest and posttest for two groups, lasting two years (2022-2023). The selected sample was carried out randomly, with the tombola procedure. Methods from the theoretical and empirical levels were used, such as: analysis and synthesis, inductive-deductive, systemic-structural-functional, measurement, experiment, and descriptive statistics, as well as research techniques, among which documentary analysis, observation, interview stand out. and survey respectively. The methodology was carried out through the implementation of therapeutic physical exercises. 20 patients with type 2 diabetes complicated by Distal Peripheral Diabetic Neuropathy (NDPD) from the municipality of Manzanillo, Granma participated. Based on the diagnosis made, it was determined that balance (85%) presented problems due to the alteration of the somatosensory system and the gait (55%) had a high risk of falling due to problems in their mobility, sway and balance. The study showed that health-oriented physical fitness can be improved in type 2 diabetic patients complicated with Distal Peripheral Diabetic Neuropathy.
